BJ and Steve welcomed in Dennis K. Chan, designer of Beyond the Sun, the space exploration tech tree game from Rio Grande Games. They find out his hobbies, how he got started in design, and chat about some of the spicy hot games they've played recently:
- Dune
- Three Sisters
- Alma Mater
Then the three do a deep dive into Beyond the Sun, one of the top games of 2020 played by the Gumbo, followed by a rousing game of Envie. (Note: we had some technical difficulties with the server, so the end of the game was unfortunately cut off).

BJ welcomes in Tim Virnig, Brand Ambassador for Thunderworks Games, to chat about the spicy hot games they have coming out in 2021-22! But first, they chat about teaching board games and get into some of their recent plays like:
- Parks and the new Nightfall Expansion from Keymaster Games
- Bruce Lee and the new expansions from Unmatched by Restoration Games
Then it is on to those spicy hot games! Tim gives us the latest scoop on games like:
- Cartographers Heroes
- Roll Player Adventures
- Theme Parks
- Cape May
Finally, they wrap up with a game of ENVIE, where Tim tries to stump BJ and the Chat Krewe with a game he has a really big jonesing to play, right now!

Comedian and Game Designer Grant Lyon joins Gumbo Live! to talk about Curmudgeon, a new party game from 25th Century Games! BJ and Verla chat with Grant about life as a comedian, his influences and favorite shows, and some of the spicy hot games they have played recently:

- MonsDRAWsity, and
- Christmas Lights
Then they turn to Curmudgeon, and found out the backstory about how the game came to be plus the joy that Grant gets when people play the game.
Finally, it's the return of JUST ONE -- Grant's first time playing! The Chat Krewe competes for a copy of Christmas Lights. Who can mind meld with Grant, Steve, Verla and BJ?
